Words Words

An article in the NST caught my attention recently. The article mentions that the Selangor government has banned the use of the 1Malaysia logo in advertisements. Why? Because they say it is a political symbol and should only be used during the election period. A guy who used the logo on the signboard of his convenience shop was told bring down the sign recently. See that, convenience shop. Kedai runcit. Wanna sell Gardenia bread or santan or maggi mee also susah.

This was the reason given for the sudden ban:
"Such advertisements are only allowed during election time. We don't want to create uneasiness among the public. Some people may even get upset when they see such symbols"
Damn stupid right? Who would get upset seeing the 1Malaysia logo?

I also noticed that RTM newsreaders will always start the news by saying "Salam 1Malaysia" regardless of what language the news is in. What a greeting. Doesn't make sense.

For me and most of the other young people I know,
these words are just something extra we can use in our daily jokes. Remember these lines: "Ingatlah orang tersayang" or "Anda mampu mengubahnya"? I'm sure you have heard at least one of these lines used in a joke. Right?

Anyway Christmas is coming, so Merry Christmas dan ingatlah orang tersayang.
